Library
Welcome to the Nursery ISD Library!
Our library is a place for students to explore, discover, and grow a love of reading. We’re here to support learning, spark curiosity, and connect students with books and resources that inspire.
Challenging Library Materials
Under Texas law (TEC §33.027), parents, district employees, or residents of the district may challenge any book or material in the school library.
To submit a challenge, complete and turn in the Library Materials Challenge Form. The form must explain how the material violates the library standards set by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC).
What happens next:
-
The district will send a copy of the form to the Local School Library Advisory Council (LSLAC) within 5 days.
-
The LSLAC will make a recommendation within 90 days of receiving the challenge.
-
If the district does not have an LSLAC, the school board will act on the challenge at its first open meeting after the 90th day.
-
While the challenge is being reviewed, students cannot access the material.
Appeals:
If you disagree with the district’s decision, you may appeal to the school board. The board will act on the appeal at its next open meeting.
